While our name and identity are changing, the expertise, people and commitment our customers have come to know remain the same. RetourMat reflects what our business has become: part of one European company with a shared ambition to build a more circular future for mattresses.

From TFRG to RetourMat

TFRG was founded with a clear purpose: to find a better solution for mattresses that had reached the end of their useful life.

Since then, the business has grown to become a leader in mattress recycling and rejuvenation in the UK, working with some of the country’s leading retailers, manufacturers, waste management businesses, local authorities and other organisations.

Along the way, our focus has evolved too.

Today, our work isn’t simply about recycling mattresses. It’s about looking at the entire mattress lifecycle and asking how we can retain the greatest possible value from both the product and the materials within it.

That means rejuvenating suitable returned mattresses so they can remain in use for longer, recycling mattresses that have genuinely reached the end of their useful life, and developing circular material solutions that keep recovered resources in circulation.

Becoming RetourMat UK reflects that evolution.

RetourMat brings together mattress recycling, rejuvenation and circular materials expertise from across Europe under one name.

By combining our knowledge, technology, infrastructure and experience, we have an opportunity to tackle the mattress waste challenge on a much greater scale.

Across Europe, RetourMat processes around 2 million mattresses every year, creating more circular routes for mattresses and the valuable resources they contain.

For our UK customers, the change to RetourMat also opens the door to the knowledge and capabilities of a wider European group while retaining the experience and relationships built through TFRG.

Our customers will continue working with the same people and receiving the same specialist service and support.

What changes is the name above the door – and the scale of the ambition behind it.

As RetourMat UK, we’ll continue to provide our core services across:

• Mattress recycling – recovering valuable materials from mattresses at the end of their useful life.
• Mattress rejuvenation – professionally processing suitable customer returns so they can be given a second life.
• Circular materials – finding valuable new applications for materials recovered through the recycling process.

We’ll also continue investing in the technology, infrastructure and partnerships needed to make mattress circularity work at scale.

Building on Our UK Heritage

Although TFRG is becoming RetourMat, we’re incredibly proud of the business and reputation that have been built under the TFRG name.

Our UK operation has pioneered new approaches to mattress recycling and rejuvenation, developing specialist technology and processes and building longstanding partnerships across the mattress and waste industries.

Today, 100% of mattresses processed through our UK operations are diverted from landfill, while 92% of the materials we recover are supplied back into UK manufacturing.

Those achievements provide the foundations for our next chapter.

More Than a Rebrand

This isn’t simply a new logo or a new name.

RetourMat represents our move towards a truly European approach to mattress circularity – bringing businesses together, sharing expertise and creating the scale needed to keep more mattresses and materials in circulation.

Our ambition is to help move the industry away from a traditional linear model where mattresses are made, used and discarded.

Instead, we want to build a system where mattresses remain in use for as long as possible, suitable returns are given another life, and valuable materials are recovered when a mattress can no longer be reused.
