Circular materials
Turning materials from end-of-life mattresses into valuable resources for the next generation of products.
What are circular materials?
A mattress is made from valuable materials that can have a useful life far beyond the original product. Through specialist mattress recycling, RetourMat separates materials including foam, textiles, steel and other components so they can be recovered and returned to the supply chain.
Rather than treating an end-of-life mattress as waste, we see it as a source of materials. By finding new uses and markets for these recovered resources, we help keep materials in circulation for longer and reduce reliance on virgin raw materials.
For our partners, this means mattress recycling can become part of a much bigger circular economy story – moving beyond waste management towards resource recovery.
Our working method
Questions?
Mattress recovery
End-of-life mattresses are collected from retailers, manufacturers and other partners and transported to our specialist recycling facilities.
Material separation
Mattresses are dismantled and their individual components separated, allowing materials such as foam, textiles and steel to be recovered.
Processing and preparation
Recovered materials are sorted and processed to meet the requirements of their next application, creating usable secondary raw materials.
Back into the supply chain
Materials are supplied for use in new applications, helping to keep valuable resources in circulation and supporting a more circular mattress industry.
From mattress waste to valuable resources
RetourMat doesn’t believe recycling should end when a mattress is dismantled. The real opportunity lies in ensuring the materials recovered have a useful next life.
In the UK, 92% of our recovered outputs are supplied into UK manufacturing, helping retain valuable resources within the economy while reducing waste and supporting more resilient material supply chains.
By working closely with manufacturers and material partners, we’re continually exploring higher-value applications for recovered mattress materials and opportunities to close the loop further.
Benefits
Keeping materials in circulation
Recover valuable resources from mattresses that would otherwise become waste.
Supporting UK manufacturing
92% of our recovered outputs are supplied into UK manufacturing.
Reducing virgin material demand
Secondary raw materials can replace the need for newly extracted resources in suitable applications.
Building a circular supply chain
Connect mattress recovery with new manufacturing applications and help create more circular material flows.
